I've designated Wednesday as beer production day, so today I headed out to my local homebrew supply shop to get ingredients for tomorrow's batch, which will hopefully result in a malty porter. As a novice homebrewer I have lots of questions, and the owners of my local shop have been very helpful in answering them. However, on weekends the store can be busy, so weekdays are a better time for a more thorough discussion.
Vermont Homebrew Supply is located in a small grouping of stores in Winooski not far from the city's minimal downtown. While the store is fairly small, it carries everything that a beginning brewer needs - books, equipment, malt extract, specialty grains, pellet hops, yeast, priming sugar, and caps. It also carries things for more advanced brewing, such as leaf hops, flavoring extracts, and (I think) is able to order malted grains for full-mash brewing. In addition it carries wine-making supplies and soda kits. One very helpful thing the store provides is several binders full of recipes, and the 4 batches I've made were recipes from the store, with slight modifications.
