Saranac Caramel Porter

Style: Porter
Appearance: Dark amber, clear, slightly fizzy pour, tan-colored head that subsided in a few minutes, minimal lacings
Aroma: Toffee
Mouthfeel: Full
Taste: Toffee, sweet
Verdict: A tolerable porter
Comments: This porter is a bit too much on the sweet side for me, with not enough hops or smoke to balance the big toffee nose.

Notes: This is another well-executed porter that just doesn't work for me. Despite my fondness for porters with a malty aspect to the taste, the toffee nose and lack of balance in the flavor makes the sweetness a bit too much for me. I would still recommend that anyone who likes uniquely-flavored beers give it a try.
